James Haney joins Gainwell as CIO, responsible for establishing the company’s IT organization, strategic direction, and business-enabling systems as it proves itself an independent market leader. This includes exiting Gainwell’s transition service agreements (TSAs) and ensuring that the company’s IT capabilities support the business both tactically and strategically. Jim will lead the initiatives to modernize, optimize and stand up the systems, processes and people strategically aligned to support the business. His focus will be on adding new and innovative ideas to a strong foundation to help the company and its clients achieve better outcomes.
Jim brings depth of experience to Gainwell, including valuable lessons learned and best practices gained from his involvement in four major greenfield initiatives throughout his career. Most recently he was senior vice president and CIO at Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, responsible for providing overall IT vision and leadership. In that role, he led the stand-up of the IT organization and all its systems and infrastructure, enabling Ortho to operate as a stand-alone company. This involved planning and implementing enterprise IT systems, automating business processes and recruiting the required talent.
Jim’s more than 30-year career in information management and technology also includes overseeing worldwide IT and systems as CIO for companies such as Biomet and Harley-Davidson, and other roles in consulting, strategic planning, data center consolidation and IT transformation for various companies.
A graduate of University of Notre Dame, Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and electrical engineering. He has served on several advisory boards and boards of directors and is a speaker at vendor and industry events.
